Painter Félix Aráuz was born into a supportive family in Ecuador. Aráuz was a member of the artistic circles of Juan Villafuerte, José Carreño, Aníbal Villacís, and Enrique Tábara.
Aráuz enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in 1957 and was taught by César Andrade Faini. Aráuz experienced a sense of melancholy and loneliness after his father passed away during his sophomore year.
